Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring is right around the corner, so now is the perfect time to start coordinating your plan to wipe away the winter damage from your lawn. As the Official Sponsor of Spring, we have put together this checklist for you to use as a helpful spring cleaning guide to getting your backyard ready for the spring and summer season ahead.

Take Your Elbow Grease Outside: Spring Cleaning Checklist

  1. Clean & Refresh Outdoor Flooring: When it comes to this hefty chore, a pressure washer is your best friend. After sweeping away any debris, pressure wash the outdoor flooring with a deck cleaner solution. Don't own a pressure washer? No worries: check out your local hardware store to see if they have one available to rent.
  2. Service Your Garden Hose: Notice a leak in your garden hose? According to Lowes, small leaks can be easily fixed with electrical tape. Just make sure the hose is clean and dry before applying the adhesive. Wrap the tape a few times around the hose to make sure you've sealed it properly, but not too tight; you don't want the hose to crease.
  3. Check Mulch: Winter storms can often cause the mulch at the base of your trees and shrubs to get displaced. Take a little time to rake the mulch back into place. Properly placed mulch will help to protect your beautiful trees for more years to come.
  4. Clean the Windows: Martha Stewart recommends cleaning when the sun isn't shining directly on your windows. Remove any screens from the windows; dust away any dirt or cobwebs before cleaning. A squeegee will also help you achieve that illustrious streak-free shine.
  5. Clean the Sprinklers: Before re-starting your irrigation routine, tackle any sprinkler head buildup that may have accumulated over time. Believe it or not, a paperclip is ideal for this particular task. This is also a good time to contact a service professional to inspect your system for any leaks or other winter damage.
  6. Get the Kids to Help: Set up outdoor toy chests for the kids to easily put away their toys. De-cluttering the yard after playtime will help to maintain a healthy, lush lawn.

A little elbow grease goes a long way. Taking the time to care for your yard now will continue to pay off in the long run. Make spring cleaning a family affair, and the backyard will be ready in no time.

Your go-to guide for a healthy, beautiful lawn.
