Bahiagrass
Paspalum notatum
Bahiagrass is a warm-season turf grass with a medium texture, making it a popular choice for lawns in the Deep South. Because of its adaptability to an array of soil conditions, Bahiagrass is popular for sites with difficult growing conditions, such as parking lots and roadways.
Identify
Bahiagrass is best identified by its medium-textured leaves with compressed leaf sheaths. The tips of the leaves are pointed, and when seed heads develop, Bahiagrass develops a two-pronged, V-patterned one. This turf grass is also identified by its thick rhizomes.
Life Cycle

Care
Bahiagrass has a fair tolerance for shade and stands up well to foot traffic. However, it does not perform well in high-pH soils, sometimes making proper turf grass management programs more intensive.
