More than 120 TruGreen associates were excited to recently be able to team up with several local Memphis organizations for our second annual day of service. This day of service served as a reminder of the emphasis our business places on being hands on in our own back yard and supporting organizations in our community and beyond.
The organizations we had the privilege of partnering with were the Memphis Botanic Garden, Clean Memphis, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Hope House, The Heights CDC and Memphis River Parks Partnership.
Our volunteer efforts, which included more than 250 combined volunteer hours, involved supporting St. Jude’s harvest garden, a clean-up project in The Heights neighborhood, coloring with patients, delivering amenities to rooms, serving snacks to families in NICU family room at Le Bonheur – and reading to students, cleaning playground, planting activity with students, etc. at the Hope House. The team also supported the Botanic Gardens by creating crafts/projects for student lessons and participating in play activities with children visiting My Big Backyard. MS River Park also received support with putting the finishing touches on a new downtown park.
The event was also held on National Good Neighbor Day which was another reason TruGreen associates had to celebrate by working alongside other team mates to positively impact our community.
“Events like the TruGreen annual Day of Service is at the heart of who we are as a company, and we consider it a privilege to support activities that help our community live life outside,” said Wendy Radtke, chief human resources officer. “This year, while we partnered with numerous non-profit organizations, every service project focused on growing greenspace, promoting play or cultivating community. It was inspiring to see our associates so excited about giving back and we look forward to working with more communities and organizations in the coming years,” added Radtke.
