Lawn Fertilization Lawn Fertilization

Help your lawn reach its fullest potential.

After you sign up for a plan, a TruGreen PhD-certified specialist will conduct a Healthy Lawn Analysis® and further tailor a plan that fits your lawn’s individual needs. Each full service lawn plan includes fertilization that uses a slow-release formula that is applied at key points in every season to stimulate and maintain growth. And for as long as your plan is in place, the TruGreen Healthy Lawn Guarantee® remains in effect; this gives you the assurance that your specialist will gladly visit your property as often as needed to make any necessary adjustments to ensure your satisfaction. The fertilization process involves three primary considerations:

  • Proper amounts. The first thing to do before applying fertilizer is to determine the square footage of your lawn so you’ll know how much fertilizer you’ll need. The right ingredients, along with the proper amount and timing creates the recipe for a greener lawn.
  • Proper ingredients. Fertilizer comes in a variety of mixtures, and it’s important to determine which mix is best for your lawn’s needs. The analysis of fertilizer indicates the percentage (by weight) of these three nutrients, and is printed on the outside of every fertilizer package, representing the percentages of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium inside.
  • Proper scheduling. Timing of fertilization treatments is equally important to achieve a healthy, green and thriving lawn. Controlled-release fertilizers deliver just enough quick-release nitrogen to produce a fast greening, while the balance is released gradually by microbial action in the soil over a period of approximately 8 weeks. As a result, there is a constant supply of nitrogen for the grass.
