The Best Moments OutsideThe Best Moments Outside

on November 2, 2015 by TruGreen

The season to be thankful is here! This time of year is perfect to pause, reflect and give thanks for all the ways our yards helped us live life outside.

We spent many special moments in the yard this year.

From enjoying the fruits and veggies from the garden, playing in the sprinklers and relaxing outside in a hammock, here’s a look at some of our favorite moments to be thankful for from 2015.

It was the best place to relax.
Who needs a fancy spa getaway when your Zen retreat is right in your own backyard? Just thinking about those moments lounging on our DIY hammocks https://www.trugreen.com/learning-center/infographics/lawn-and-lifestyle/diy-hammock/, staring at clouds and feeling the sun on our faces will help us make it through the cold winter.

It helped get the kids outside.
In the age of video games and binge watching, that was no small feat. A lush lawn gave the kids a prime spot to run around, play, imagine and get away from the electronics.

It added some serious curb appeal.
We like to think the neighbors are still talking about the http://www.trugreen.com/blog/lawn-care/plant-this-now-may-edition/ beautiful flowers we grew. After all, who could resist the pops of color against that healthy green grass? Martha Stewart’s got nothing on this green thumb!

It helped us unplug and unwind.
It’s not just the kids that needed to get outside! Our yard helped us http://www.trugreen.com/blog/lifestyle/14-ways-to-unplug-and-unwind/ power down, live life outside and reconnect with what really matters like enjoying natural beauty and connecting with family away from electronics.

It was the co-host of our outdoor parties.
From backyard BBQs http://www.trugreen.com/blog/lawn-maintenance/lawn-maintenance-tips-for-throwing-a-backyard-bbq/ to graduation parties, having a backyard soiree is a piece of cake when your lawn looks so good.

It fed us and helped us grow.
In the spring, our gardens gave us artichokes, peas, rhubarb and spinach. In summer it was all about apples, mangoes, cucumbers and berries. The fall brought Brussels sprouts, squash, cauliflower, corn, pumpkins and pears. This year’s backyard garden harvest was as bountiful as it was delicious. Our palates (and tummies) were grateful for the nourishment!

It made our patios more beautiful.
The best accessory to our decorated patios was the complementary lush, green yard. Not to brag, but between the two of them, we’re pretty sure that we were the envy of the neighborhood!

It was THE spot for date night.
The backyard was our favorite place to enjoy a Rom-Com under the stars http://www.trugreen.com/blog/trugreen/rom-com-under-the-stars/. We seriously recommend trying it if you haven’t yet!

It helped us get fit.
Even when the weather was gloomy, the backyard provided a place to break a sweat and help us stay fit. http://www.trugreen.com/blog/trugreen/outdoor-fitness-in-the-winter/

It was the starting ground for our kids’ first business.
Besides sweet memories, who knows what else that childhood lemonade stand could lead to?
