When the holidays come around, the first thing on your mind is probably shopping – but right after that, we know it’s all about decorating your home for the season. It’s hard to know exactly what to do to light up the outside of your home this time of year, especially without compromising your lawn. Luckily, your friends at TruGreen have some holiday decor suggestions that will leave you feeling festive while keeping your lawn untouched.

A Dazzling Entryway

Your walkway is the first thing your guests (or those neighborhood carollers) will see when they are walking up. This is an awesome opportunity to add some holiday spirit. A few of our favorite ways to accent your walkway are using candy cane lights, luminarias or even a section of Christmas lights to brighten the way to the door. Looking for something a little more “snow-friendly”? Try all-weather luminarias – they are made of plastic, so you don’t have to worry about them breaking down from snow.

Make Those Trees Shine

Your trees are another place where you can use decorations to jazz things up. Whether you have big tall oak trees or sprawling pines, adding lights and tinsel can take your holiday yard game to the next level. We suggest hanging those colorful twinkle lights in a wrapped formation around your trees. If you’re over lights and want something just as decorative, metallic tinsel makes your trees shimmer with the spirit of the season.

Hang the Lights

This one is obvious but necessary. Unravel those twinkling lights and string them up. Whether you want to go full Griswold Family Christmas, or stick to some standard white icicle lights – you can make your home decor your own with the ultimate light display. It takes time and energy to get these lights up, but the good news is they won’t damage your lawn!

Give it Some Character

Maybe you love penguins, or a giant Santa saying “Ho, ho, ho!” Adding some characters to your holiday decorations can make your holiday display even more exciting. Inflatables, Santa and his reindeer can all be a part of the perfect holiday display. There are so many options to choose from these days – just be sure to stake them into the rocks so you don’t do any damage to the lawn.

Melt That Ice

To complete your holiday display in all of its glory, you’re certainly not going to want snow and ice getting in the way. Luckily, we can help! Our Ice Melt products can save you time, money and hassle by delivering these products right to your property. When placed on frozen pavement and walkways, ice melt products attract moisture to form a liquid brine, which generates heat. This liquid spreads, melting and loosening ice from the pavement and walkways, making the ice easier to shovel away.

Need to make sure your lawn is ready for your holiday festivities? We’ve got you covered. Contact your TruGreen professional to set up service so you don’t have to think twice about your grass.
