Seeding
TruGreen is committed to helping you develop and maintain a lush, green lawn, but occasionally you'll want to enhance your lawn by seeding it. Seeding recommendations vary with the type of grass you currently have, the climate where you live, and how you use your lawn. TruGreen Specialists can give you advice on the right seed for your area and climate, but general tips include the following:
- Make sure grass seeds remain in contact with the soil (and away from a thatch layer) so it will germinate and establish a root system.
- Watering is essential to the growth of new seeds in the first few weeks. Never let the seeds dry out, but at the same time, avoid overwatering.
- Fall or early spring are the preferred times of the year to seed cool season lawns. However, seed Bahiagrass or Bermudagrass lawns in early summer.
Other ways to establish lawns include plugging or sodding and can be used during favorable conditions for the particular grass type.
