Mowing
As part of our promise to maintain your greener, more weed-free lawn, TruGreen is also committed to helping you address common questions that arise in the maintenance of your lawn. For example, a properly mowed lawn will grow thicker, have deeper root growth, and be more resistant to disease, insects, and seasonal stress. TruGreen has provided mowing tips to keep your lawn healthy.
- The growth of your grass should be your guide to how often you mow your lawn, with the goal of cutting less than 1/3 of the grass blade each time.
- If your grass has grown too high, set your mower to the highest cutting level and cut once. Mow again several days later to achieve the ideal height.
- Cut damaged grass carefully. Raise the mower height a notch or two on grass recovering from insects, disease, or heat stress until the grass has fully recovered.
- Recycle clippings on your lawn to reduce water loss, lower soil temperatures, and return nutrients to the soil.
- Don't cut wet or wilted grass as it can cause severe damage to your lawn.
